Geza X or Geza Gedeon was one of the crucial personalities in the Los Angeles punk scene which thrived in the late '70s. Geza produced records for a number of early and influential LA punk bands including the Dead Kennedys, The Germs, Black Flag, The Avengers and The Weirdos.

Geza X has been an important fixture on the California punk/new wave scene for many years as a producer/writer/engineer for countless artists, from Josie Cotton to the Dead Kennedys. As an artist, however, he doesn’t resemble most of those he’s worked with at all: You Goddamn Kids! is delightful, off-the-wall, adventurous, complex and humorous.

Geza was a forefather of the underground L.A. punk scene, though the stuff that appears on this album was more avant guarde and experimental than what would typify the punk scene in general. This disc is more for one interested in the history of the L.A. underground or the punk rock phenomenon rather than the casual listener/5(6).

The final result was ’sYou Goddam Kids which shows just how different Geza X was form his contemporaries. Geza X was slightly older than the punk kids around him and the three or four years maturity he has on them is what drives this record. That’s not to say that You Goddam Kids is gentler than “Lexicon Devil†or â.
